There are three different kinds of friction. Sliding, Rolling, and Fluid
Sliding Friction is produced when two surfaces slide across each other.

Ex. When a book slides across a table that is sliding friction.

Rolling friction is the resistance produced when a rolling body moves over a surface.


Ex. The friction between an automobile tire and a street is rolling friction.

Fluid friction is the friction between a fluid and a solid.
